LEVI'S STADIUM:
Behind the Scenes Tour

Join us for a behind the scenes tour and get an insiders’ look at how Levi’s Stadium has created the ultimate fan experience through innovation and technology.  From the playing field to the rooftop.  Levi’s Stadium is host to the next Super Bowl 50 in 2016.

Our tour will begin at the upper level of the Intel Plaza with a photo opportunity in front of the playing field.  Our tour stops will include visiting several of the premium club spaces, a private suite and the Verizon Press Level.  We will have the opportunity to see the innovation and technology that drives the stadium.

Next we will head up to the NRG Solar Terrace to see the green roof. Then we will move down to the field level to check out the locker rooms including the Gold Rush locker room.

GETTING SMART WITH YOUR SHOWS:
A Look at Smartphones, Tablets and Smaller Cameras,
Plus A Camera Shootout

As the video services providers for our cities/counties, we are getting more requests to make videos for websites, YouTube and social media instead of for our channels. Can we get more bang out of our videos by repurposing them in more ways?

As camera technology gets better and smaller, can they successfully be adapted for channel programming? Join in the discussion to talk about work flow, technical quality, staffing requirements and the pros and cons of using smartphones, tablets and lower cost cameras in our operations. What are you sacrificing and what do you gain?

We will show program samples, demonstrate workflow and have a camera shootout to compare differently priced cameras.

Speakers:

Robin Gee, Cable TV Manager, City of Santa Monica, CityTV of Santa Monica
Andy Tolley, Producer/Editor, County of San Diego, San Diego County NewsCenter

CAMERA SHOOTOUT

For the camera shootout, CityTV will bring our new cameras and we will be showing the following:
   - Medium Size Sony Camera: PXWX180

   - Small Size Sony Camera: PXWX70

And if we get them delivered in time, we will also have:
   - Professional ENG Sony Camera: PXWX500
   - Cinema Grade Sony Camera: PXW-FS7

If you want to bring your camera to the shootout, contact Darren Doerschel at Darren.Doerschel@SMGov.Net. Bring your camera, tripod and monitor. We will try to set up the cameras so we can compare them all on one monitor (no promises).

SCAN NATOA CHAPTER MEETING

November 13, 2014

SFGovTV Studio, San Francisco

STORY-TELLING WORKSHOP WITH PHOTOJOURNALIST LES ROSE

Calling all photographers, producers and writers! SCAN-NATOA presents a story-telling workshop with award-winning CBS News photojournalist Les Rose.  Part of the famous CBS News team of Steve Hartman and Les Rose, the two traveled around the country and could come up with a story on virtually anything.  Their most popular series called “Everybody Has A Story” produced stories on people whose names were pulled at random from a phone book!  They learned everyone is interesting in some way and you don’t need the most expensive equipment or a team of news professionals to get a great story.  For more on Les visit  http://LesRoseOnline.com/

Les Rose will show you how you can do it, too.  He’ll teach you the importance of character development, how to improve writing and lighting, and the value of humor and heart in a story. He’ll give you samples of his work and pass along his broad experience from covering stories all over the world.  They range from 9/11 stories in Pennsylvania and New York City, to natural disasters to celebrity interviews.  He’s made presentations to The Poynter Institute, N.P.P.A., RTNDA with Al Tompkins, NATOA and many other organizations around the country.  Don’t miss his SCAN-NATOA presentation; it will be the best video production training session of the year.
